The Green Man
If you can find the Tiptoe Wood,
you’ll see where once the Green Man stood,
his footprints still in leafy glades
where danced the Spring and Summer Maids,
whilst his reflection in a stream
you may see in a fleeting dream;
long rushes bend to hide his face
in this sweetly hidden place.
His voice is heard in sudden breeze
a memory that’s sent to tease,
evokes a time of Summer Fayre
with Lords and Ladies gathered there.
Bluebells, Cowslips, Meadowsweet
display their colours, eyes to treat.
Fairy cakes and lemonade;
an elfin band on smart parade.
Children playing in the sun
with hoops that loop eternal fun.
Roll-a-Penny, win a wink
